I am a cognitive neuroscientist fascinated by how we come to have conscious experiences in this world. My research aims to bridge sensory/bodily and cognitive levels of analysis to uncover the neural and cognitive underpinnings of conscious contents. To this end, our team sheds light on (meta-)conscious processes underlying the prediction of sensory inputs in the somatosensory and auditory domain using psychophysics and EEG. We apply these paradigms to investigate distortions of consciousness in chronic pain patients. Additionally, I hold a strong interest in the neural correlates of painful conscious contents. I envision that my research might inform the rehabilitation of chronic pain patients.
