Falling asleep, entering sedation and being in a coma all have in common the loss of consciousness. How does brain activity change while consciousness disappears and re-emerges? The aim of my research is to further the understanding of how the dynamics of several measures of brain functioning – such as frontoparietal connectivity, EEG microstates, or Kolmogorov complexity – change at the boundary of consciousness. Coming from the field of computer science, I am also interested in machine learning, artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, robotics, and philosophy. Projects
